We are a family that struggles routines but one we have set and followed through with is tackling homework as soon as we walk in the door each night, even on Friday's. Growing up I was never one to do this. I had such good intentions at the start of each school year but that soon wore off and procrastination set in. I am hoping by starting my kids out on this path it will help them well into high school and even into their careers.
Being a first grader, this is Beckett's first year of homework. It's never a lot but it is something he has to do and take responsibility for completing. I'm all about teaching responsibility at a young age! I have to say while he may get distracted easily he never complains. He just knows it's something that needs to be done before anything else.
Briggs, on the other hand, is in preschool. This week he requested homework from his teacher. Not sure where he gets this from! LOL It was adorable how he would tell his brothers that he had to finish his homework (writing his letters) before he could play. This kid LOVES school.
One thing I have learned is that when you hear that our children are watching, they really are watching. They are watching not only what we do as parents but what rules we are setting even if the rule doesn't apply to them at this time. I have also learned that I am not only setting examples and helping my boys but I'm also doing this for other kiddos. As adults, we have to remember we are influencing so many children every single day. Kind of scary, right?!

Beckett is so patient...here he was finishing a little story he wrote prior to his baby brother coloring on it. :( Briggs was working on his Kindergarten book I bought while back. Then there is Beau....He just didn't want to be excluded from any photos as always. :)
